My Story
I grew up in New York and worked full-time while pursuing my degree at Fordham University. I raised a family and lived overseas. While overseas, I was active in organizing recovery workshops, creating 12-step groups, and worked with individuals from many different cultures. I also traveled to several countries to educate groups about the impact of addiction on individuals and their families.
With my children grown and living in the US, I too returned to the US permanently. From 2015 to 2022, I dedicated myself to being a drug and alcohol therapist at a treatment facility, supporting men, women, and older adults as they transitioned into recovery. Witnessing clients emerging from despair was profoundly rewarding, especially as I celebrated my own 36 years of sobriety. While I found great fulfillment in this role, I also nurtured a deep passion for experiential therapy, a modality I fell in love with through my own experiences. In 2018, I began training in this area and became an experiential therapist at the same facility in 2022, a role that brought me immense joy.
In 2023, I faced the unimaginable loss of one of my children. After taking a few months off to attend 12-step meetings, therapy, and grief groups, I returned to work feeling lost and unsure of my path.
For years, I had aspired to open a private practice, a dream I once considered unrealistic. However, the loss of my son shifted my perspective. As I navigated my grief and purpose, I recognized the importance of continuing to help others. My journey taught me that helping others is a profound gift. It took a personal tragedy to reveal my true calling: to assist others in their healing journeys.
I believe that support should be personalized and not a one-size-fits-all process. While individuals may face similar challenges, their paths to healing are unique. I am committed to guiding you as you discover your own way, just as I have found mine.
